Portillo’s Opens in Greenfield

April 25, 2017
Opening its second Wisconsin location in less than a year, Portillo’s looks to continue to expand its market. Known for their italian beef and hotdogs, this Illinois-based restaurant has over 40 locations across the nation.
With an opening in Brookfield during the late months of last summer, this location had the third largest opening week sales of all of their restaurants.
But to appeal to those on the southern suburbs of Milwaukee, management opened a location on the 8400 block of Layton Avenue. This was one of the first of many developments that would be in the residential area that Greenfield officials continue to build on.
Just recently opened, some GHS students have already ventured out to try some of Portillo’s specialties.
Seniors Tommy Kujawa and Ethan Schenzel recently visited over the weekend.
Kujawa has previously had their food at various other locations.
“It was nothing short of what I expected from prior trips in Illinois,” he said. “I always go with their burgers but they’ve got a decent-sized menu that I’d highly recommend others check out as it’s a place you want to at least try once!”
Schenzel, on the other end, had never been to a Portillo’s before taking a visit with Kujawa.
“For how much people had been looking forward to it, it certainly lived up to expectations,” he said. “It was excellent service and even better food.”
While many have already visited, many more look to make a trip to the latest hotspot in the Greenfield suburbs.
“My parents have already gone and loved it, but I hadn’t gone with,” senior Alex Ouellette said. “Hopefully I can go there for lunch one day, as I heard it’s really good.”
