College Football Championship Weekends Promises to Be Memorable

The College Football season is coming to an end, and the most exciting games of the year are happening this weekend.

The SEC Championship Game is a matchup between the second ranked Auburn Tiger and the sixth ranked Georgia Bulldogs. The winner of this game will more than likely advance to the CFP (College Football Playoff).

Senior Nick Kuehn was happy that Auburn is in the game and believes they’ll win.

“I was really happy that Auburn beat ‘Bama because I hate ‘Bama. I think if they can beat ‘Bama by that much and dominate them, they’ll take care of Georgia with no problem, like they did the first time this year when they beat them 40-17,” Kuehn said.

The ACC Championship Game is a matchup between the top ranked and reigning National Champion Clemson Tigers and the seventh ranked Miami Hurricanes. The winner of this game will also more than likely make it into the CFP.

Senior Jack McGee, a big Clemson fan, hopes to see the team win.

“It was awesome last year when they beat ‘Bama in the National Championship Game, and avenge the loss they took to them the year before. As good as Miami has been this year, I think Clemson will beat them easily and be the one seed in the CFP,” McGee said.

The Big 12 Championship Game features the third ranked Oklahoma Sooners against the 11th ranked TCU Horned Frogs. Oklahoma beat TCU 38-20 earlier in the season, and don’t seem to be slowing down at all, with Heisman favorite Baker Mayfield leading at the helm. If Oklahoma wins, they’re in the CFP, if they lose, however, they could be out.

The Big 10 Championship Game features the undefeated and fourth ranked Wisconsin Badgers against the eighth ranked Ohio State Buckeyes.

Senior Andrew Sodemann hopes Wisconsin will win.

“Even though they haven’t played the top teams this season, they’re still undefeated, which is pretty hard to do. If they win, they should for sure be in the CFP,” Sodemann said.

Alabama, the fifth ranked team in the nation, needs Wisconsin or Oklahoma to lose to have a shot of making it into the CfP.

Junior Mehmet Ademi believes Clemson is ranked too high.

“Clemson should be ranked lower than Wisconsin because they lost to Syracuse, who isn’t a good team,” Ademi said.

On Sunday at 12 p.m., four teams out of hundreds will be chosen to participate in the CFP. This will be the hardest selection the CFP committee will have had, but that’s what makes college football so exciting.
