Student Council planning SnoCo dance

Student Council planning SnoCo dance

This winter Student Council will host a winter dance on Saturday, Feb. 3. It will be just like Homecoming but instead they are calling it SnoCo.

Last year very few students signed up to go to the winter dance, and it had to be canceled, so this year the Student Council changed up a couple things hoping to increase interest.

“Last year the winter Masquerade Dance was canceled due to lack of student interest. There are a few differences between SnoCo and the Masquerade dance. SnoCo will be held in the MPR instead of the gym and Student Council members are looking for a way to bring the cost of SnoCo down,” Student Council adviser Zach Geiger said.

The theme for the dance will be a winter theme.

“It’s just a winter theme because other themes have been rejected in the past,” junior Carley Rudd said.

Although there was not a big turnout for last year’s winter dance, student council members think that will change this year.

“I have a good feeling about this one. I think turnout the will be good. Make sure to buy your tickets!” said senior Lena Abukhamireh. “This one is more thoroughly planned out, whereas last year’s happened kind of last minute. This year our goal was to make sure that it was planned ahead of time so there would be a chance to actually advertise it.”

Geiger really encourages students to go to attend.

“I think students should attend SnoCo if they are looking for a Saturday night of fun with a group of their peers early in second semester. This would be a great opportunity to see students that are outside of core friend groups and liven up an otherwise pretty dull time of the year,” he said.

The dance runs from 8-11 p.m. and tickets will cost $8 if purchased the Monday and Tuesday of exam week and $10 after exams.
