The boys season is coming to end, and many members had a lot of success. Last Saturday the swim team traveled to Waukesha South for their Sectional meet and finished in 3rd. They qualified for state in 7 events.

Four swimmers from Greendale made it to state, including seniors Steven Novinska, Carmelo Patti, Harrison Stasik and junior Jackson Zgola. All four swimmers contributed in qualifying the 200 Medley Relay, 200 Free Relay and 400 Free Relay for the state meet.

“It was fun and exciting to be at the meet racing some of the best in the state, and to make it to state my last year on the team before I graduate,” Patti said.

Patti qualified for the 200 individual IM and Stasik qualified for the 100 individual freestyle.

“It is really exciting to make it to state in an individual event. Being seeded well at the highest level of swimming is something I am proud of,” Patti said.

Prior to Sectionals, the swim team hosted the Woodland Conference seet Saturday Feb. 3 and placed first with 511 points.

“I feel our team really did the best we could. All swimmers across JV and Varsity went lifetime best times and that’s all we look for at the end of the season. The win for both JV and Varsity overall was just the icing on top,” Novinska said.

The team placed first in the 200 free relay with Stasik and Zgola from Greendale, and the relay had a time of 1:29.79.

“The relay was exciting, our top goal was to qualify for state which we easily did. We did not quite get the school record, but will be attempting that at the state meet,” Zgola said.

Also placing first was the 400 free relay with Stasik from Greendale, with a time of 3:28.27.
