Greendale Poms Perform in Magic Kingdom

The GHS poms took a team trip to Florida last month and had a blast.
The girls were selected to perform in the Disney All Star Talent Tour because of their strong performance at the Midwest Grand Championships.
“My favorite part from Florida was having time to celebrate the year with my other pommies. We’ve worked so hard all year and have grown. Personally as a team I think being in Disney World was a great way to end our pretty successful year together,” senior Brooke Kais said.
One member’s favorite part of Florida was being able to inspire others.
“My favorite part of Florida was getting to perform in the Electric Light Parade because so many people line the street just to watch us perform!! So knowing I can inspire kids and people feels amazing,” junior Abby Amidzich said.
Freshman Kailey Stout’s favorite part was the Electric Light Parade as well.
“It was so cool to be a part of a parade that’s at night. You’re wearing a headband and gloves that light up and there are little girls there that look up to you,” she said. “It was very fun to make many memories with all the girls that I won’t forget.”
While the poms were in Florida they got to perform at other places besides the Electric Light Parade which was really amazing.
“As a team we performed in Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios. We also got to go to all four parks and really had the chance to bond one last time before the season ended. I really enjoyed poms this year especially because I got to see the new teams members grow and had a chance to be a leader,” Amidzich said.
Three seniors are leaving the poms team this year and going on a trip to Florida was fun for them since it is the last year for them as a team.
“In 8th grade Maddy Spidell, Katy Wartman, and I made the decision together to stop our studio dance and join poms because we wanted a life outside of dance, and poms was a way we could still do something we love,” Kais said. “Being on poms has brought me closer to so many people and has shown me how to be a leader. It’s allowed me to do other things like the musical and band and have free time. I loved performing and showing people what I can do and I’m really gonna miss being on the team. It meant so much to me throughout my four years of high school and it’s something I will never forget.”
