GHS boys’ tennis team having a successful season
May 4, 2018
The boys tennis team is on a roll and has gone undefeated as a team so far this season.
“So far this year has been going great! We have remained undefeated as a team as a whole and personally this is the best start to a season I’ve ever had record wise,” junior Matthew Fauser said.
The boys have had nine matches so far, some matches were harder than others.
“My toughest competition so far was against Pewaukee 1 Doubles team because they were a team that previously went to state and they are one of the better teams in the area,” junior Connor Loeffler said. “My match went to three sets and we got the win in the end which helped decide the overall outcome for the team.”
Each player has different goals for the team so that they continue to be successful.
“I want us to be focus all the time, but still have fun at the same time. After I leave the team after graduation, I still want us to be able to compete at conference,” senior Aaron Xiong said.
Each of the boys have different levels of playing tennis, each have played a different amount of years, and they all have their own dislikes and likes about the sport that contribute to how they perform.
“I have only been playing tennis for two years. The thing I like most about tennis is how close the team has gotten over the few years together,” junior Nicholas Richlen said “Many good friendships have been built through the tennis program,”.
Xiong plays the sport because he says it relieves his stress.
The team is about halfway through the season and is enjoying their success.
“The level of competition is so high and nothing feels better than beating an opponent with a perfectly placed ball in a hole of their defense,” Fauser said.
