GHS Prom a Night to Remember Among Students.
June 1, 2018
GHS students had prom May 25, many students participated in the dance and had a great time.
The night started off for most students with pictures around 3:30-4:00. If students wanted to participate in the school’s Grand March they traveled to school around 5:10 for the 5:30 start time. Many parents and friends came to watch. At the Grand March each couples were introduced as well as the Prom Court.
“I liked doing the Grand March. It’s fun and you get to see everyones dress,” senior Erin Stoner said.
Juniors Abby Amidzich and Josh Dymond were crowned Prom king and queen.
“I was shocked that I won because I was hardly expecting to make it on court. I felt honored to know that my class voted for me,” Amidzich said.
Junior Elly Hottinger was also very happy to be on the court.
“It was fun being on court. It is probably the only time in my life that I will get to wear a crown,” Hottinger said.
After the Grand March students were expected to be to the dance at 7:30, which was hosted downtown Milwaukee at the Marcus Performing Arts Center. For dinner students students had a buffet, which consisted of mac and cheese, chicken, beef, and good desserts.
“I really liked hanging with all my friends in one big group because we all got to bond. At the dance the venue was awesome and the food was super good. I am so happy I got the delicious mac and cheese before they ran out,” junior Gavin Steele said.
After the students ate they got to dance and take more pictures on the balcony.
“The music was really good and the venue was nice. I liked taking pictures on the balcony,” junior Madi Skaar said.
“I really had fun at Prom since people were actually dancing. The only downside to Prom was that the pictures were so hot from the heat,” junior Josh Dooley said.
The students had to stay in the dance until 11 p.m., and after the dance the school hosted a Post Prom at Stonefire Pizza. A lot of students went to it and had a lot of fun.
“Post Prom was fun because their was unlimited gaming, food, and drinks. I also won a tv which was lit,” senior Aaron Xiong said.
“I did enjoy Prom. My favorite part of Prom was taking pictures because I had a lot of fun with my friends. Another fun part about Prom was at Post Prom they had a virtual reality gaming system which was super cool,” junior Jonathan Paulik said.
Overall students had a night that they won’t forget.
“I loved seeing everyone dressed up and out of their ordinary school clothes. My favorite part was when the DJ played the song ‘Look Alive.’ It’s one of my favorites,” junior Jared Brockman said.
“I liked dancing with my friends and taking pictures with all of them the most. I enjoyed the venue because it was so pretty and I really liked sitting with my friends for dinner,” junior Nicole Martin said.
