Fans excited for second round of NFL playoffs

It was an exciting first round in the 2020 NFL Playoffs with many close games that had fans on the edge of their seats. Only eight teams now remain heading into the Divisional Round and fans anticipate that the excitement will continue.

Coming off of a first round bye, the Packers have been matched up with the Rams who beat the Seahawks 30-20 in round one. This is an interesting matchup because the Rams have the #1 overall defense in the league, and the Packers have the #1 overall offense in the league.

Senior Keegan Kapocius is confident in Green Bay. ““I think the Packers will beat the Rams,” senior Keegan Kapocius said. “It will be a tough game and the defense needs to step up against their good running game. However, our offense is elite and it will be tough for any team to win at Lambeau Field.”

Green Bay heads into their first playoff game on a six game win streak, so there’s no doubt Aaron Rodgers and the rest of the squad are feeling confident in their chances to win. They’ve been terrific all season and hopefully they can continue their solid play in the postseason.

The team in the AFC that received a first round bye was the Kansas City Chiefs. They got matched up with the Cleveland Browns in the Divisional Round who are coming off their first playoff win since 1994.

Junior Zach Sheridan thinks the Chiefs are unstoppable and will have no problem defending their title. “Their offense when it is on point is unstoppable,” Sheridan said. “Their defense isn’t great, but the Browns offense struggles with consistency and they haven’t played in a big game like this in years, so the Chiefs have an easy advantage.”

The Chiefs finished the regular season 15-1 and are considered to be the heavyweight of the NFL led by former MVP and Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes who has taken the league by storm these past few seasons.

One team in the mix that has been on a hot streak and is starting to scare NFL fans and teams is the Baltimore Ravens. They struggled and were inconsistent at the start of the year after a terrific season last year so they were somewhat forgotten about earlier this season. However, they now come into the playoffs as a scary team led by reigning MVP Lamar Jackson.

Junior Will Vaile is a Ravens fan and is excited to see them play in the playoffs. “Lamar Jackson and the rest of the offense are playing their best football right now,” Vaile said. “Their defense has also been a lot better, especially their secondary. I’m confident in their chances against any team in the league right now.”

The NFL Playoffs this season as always are meeting the exciting expectations they bring out to football fans. Everybody has their opinions and favorites, but the league is very competitive this year and there really is no clear favorite to win it all at the moment. It will be cool to see what happens going forward in the COVID season playoffs.
