The Bachelorette takes on Two Bachelorettes in One Season
February 9, 2021
Everyone knows that 2020 has been a crazy year unlike any before and not only has the pandemic impacted movies, but TV shows as well. And one of those shows that has been impacted is The Bachelorette: it has been a crazy couple of seasons to say the least. For the first time ever there were 2 Bachelorettes in one season!
The producers of The Bachelorette were all ready to start filming in spring but that had to be halted due to the pandemic. However they still wanted to continue having a season so they had everyone get tested and quarantined and resumed filming. Junior Caitlin Schuk gives her intel on her thought of having The Bachelorette during a pandemic. “I thought that the show handled COVID safely throughout the show by having everyone on the show quarantine, get weekly tests and stay at the same resort throughout the season,” she said.
For the first time ever Bachelorette Clare Crawley chose her husband, Dale Moss, in just 12 days, which was only 2 episodes. This has never happened before on any season, and senior Autumn Prophett is happy for the couple. “I personally think love is love and when you know you know. Yes, it may not be the reality of the show or how it hasn’t been done in the past but I think that season was interesting and she’s happy,” she said.
After Clare knew she had found the right guy for her, she knew she couldn’t go along with the rest of the show. She told host Chris Harrison that she would no longer continue being the Bachelorette. English teacher Katie Stanislowski is glad that she decided to stop at that point. “I think it was appropriate for Clare and Dale to leave. In fact, I think a lot of bachelor/bachelorettes make up their minds way before the season ends, and I wish they could just move at the pace that they actually want to move at,” she said.
Recently, the news is reporting that Clare and Dale’s have broken up. Schuk gives her take on the breakup. “I think from the start I knew that they weren’t going to last. On the show they get a couple of weeks to get to know each other, but Clare left week 2 so I knew it wasn’t going to work,” she said.
The Bachelorette producers surprised the audience as well as the contestants after Clare left by bringing on a new bachelorette: Tayshia Adams who had previously been on The Bachelor and Bachelor in Paradise. “I was happy that they replaced the bachelorette like that because then we still had the season to watch and I think it was a really good season!“ Stanislowski said. “I believe that the guys on this season were some of the most mature and likable guys that they’ve ever cast on the show, so I thought it was actually much more entertaining that way. It’s just a trainwreck when they cast really young and immature people, and I actually find those contestants and seasons way more boring.”
Fans raved about Tayshia replacing Clare. Tayshia also had to quarantine before coming onto the show, but everything else in the season went as planned, and the same men from Clare’s group now had the opportunity to date Tayshia. The men on the show were happy to have a new Bachelorette and even more excited that it was Tayshia coming onto the show.
During the time of the pandemic some things had to change in order for it to be safe for everyone on the show. They stayed at a resort and couldn’t go on extravagant dates, but the producers made sure that they still would have a good time.
Another thing that changed during the end of the season was hometowns. Usually the Bachelorette would go to the finalist hometown to meet their family and to show the Bachelorette their life and what they do, but it wasn’t safe for them to do that this year so the families had to come to them.
In the end, Tayshia ended up finding her true love, her fiancé Zac Clark. Sophomore Julia Lokker really enjoyed the season. “I’ve always loved Tayshia even when she was on Colton’s season. I feel that she was full of energy and really seemed committed to finding the one, which she did,” she said.
Fans were raving back and forth about the two different Bachelorette’s and which part of the season they had liked the most and thought was the most entertaining to watch.
