As the football season is already halfway over, the Panthers are overcoming many worries they had over the off season. With a winning record of 5-2, 4-1 in conference, seniors have been doing their parts to lead the team, and some important players have been seniors Jonah Plitt and Mason Reige.
Regie is happy with the recent wins but wishes he was involved more. “I wish I was thrown the ball more because then I could have better stats and that would help the team more,” Reige said.
Last Friday the Panthers faced Greenfield where they fought hard to defeat them 42-28. “I feel that everyone did their part and helped us win the game. With our season on we really showed that we are the best team in the conference,” junior QB Landon Lopez said.
Senior Gabriel Torres and Lopez made the news for play of the week. “It was very cool to be on the news for all my friends and family to see. It also helps my recruiting,” Lopez said.
Players have also been able to prove themselves this year after losing many seniors from last year. A player that has been proving himself is sophomore Ahmad Qasem, with many players believing he is the most improved player. “I think Ahmad is the most improved player because he finally got his varsity jersey by proving himself,” sophomore Brayden Dolkiewicz said.
Other wins have come against Elkhorn, Cudahy, Shorewood/Messmer, and South Milwaukee. Their losses came to Badger and Wisconsin Lutheran.
As a team there is still room for improvement with some positions not being consistent, leading them to lose early games against Wisconsin Lutheran and Badger. “I feel like we should’ve beaten Badger and Wisco. The receivers and running backs are doing their job every game, but the offensive and defensive line needs to improve,” junior Hudson Bailey said.
Next Friday the team will take on Whitnall at 7 pm at Whitnall.
