The Green Bay Packers currently have a record of 2–4 after losing to Denver on Sunday. The season started out promising when the Packers defeated the Bears and Saints but things haven’t gone well lately.
The Packers have a new starting quarterback after Aaron Rodgers was traded to the New York Jets this off-season. Jordan Love has started the season with some promising traits but also some concerns in his first season as a starter.
“After sitting three years behind Rodgers, I think Love will be our franchise quarterback. After watching him play six games throughout the season, you can see how much he has learned and how much he has elevated his game,” sophomore Alex Sokolosky said:
The Packers faced the Bears in week 1 on Sept 10, and this was undeniably one of their best performances this year. Love finished the game with 245 passing yards, 3 passing touchdowns, and a passing rating of 123.2. “I was very impressed with Jordan Love’s performance after a lot of people were talking about how he was going to stink and how the Packers were going to lose to the bears and then basically blow them out,” sophomore Keith Kubaki said.
Then the Packers faced the Atlanta Falcons, and they had a lead the whole game but ended up blowing it and falling short 25-24. Love played decently in this game with 151 yards and 3 passing touchdowns. “This loss was a tough one because we had the lead for so long, then we ended up blowing it in a game we should have won,” senior Collin Kramp said,
In week 3 against the Saints, the Packers trailed the Saints, and then Love led the Packers to a comeback win late with the final score of 18-17. Love played pretty well, with 259 yards and 1 TD but also 1 interception. Then, in week 4, the Packers faced divisional rivals the Lions, where they fell short 34-20. Love had a decent performance, but it wasn’t enough; he finished with 246 yards, 1 touchdown, and 1 interception.
In a Monday night match up, in week 5, the Packers faced the Oakland Raiders, going against ex-teammate and star wide receiver Davante Adams. This was his first time playing against the Packers since he was traded. Love and the offense did not play well and Love had only 182 yards and 0 touchdowns with 3 interceptions.
After the Packers came off a bye week they faced the Denver Broncos in an unfathomable loss. Love had a decent performance with 180 yards and 2 touchdowns and 1 interception, but at the end was not enough to get the job done with a loss, 19-17.Although things are not looking great right now, fans are not ready to throw in the towel just yet.“I think the Packers will be fine this season and end with a 9-8 record and get a wild card spot,” junior Logan Gleesing said.
