The 2023 World Series champions are the Texas Rangers who beat the Arizona Diamondbacks in 5 games. The Rangers were 11-0 on the road this postseason and capped it off by winning their final game.
The Rangers were the 5 seed in the American League and beat the Tampa Bay Rays in the first round in 2 games in the wild card round. They had a tall task ahead of them with a 100 win team in the Baltimore Orioles in the ALDS, but Rangers made quick work of them and swept them in 3 games in the 5 game series.
In the ALCS it was the battle of Texas between the Astros of Houston and the Rangers of Texas. The series came down to the wire and the Rangers edged it out in 7 games advancing to the World Series.
“I think this year the Texas Rangers really deserved it. They got really solid pickups this offseason and even though their ace got hurt at the beginning of the season, their pitching picked up very nicely,” junior Cam Bueno said.
The Rangers had the perfect amount of super star power that was backed up by great players who did their job throughout the season and especially stepped up in the playoffs. “It was great to see some superstars and players win a World Series and have them win there first,” junior Luke Mattes said.
This was the Rangers first World Series title in the 63 years of their franchise. Along with winning his second world series, shortstop Corey Seager won his second world series MVP. He won his first title and MVP with the LA Dodgers.
“I really liked that pick of Corey Seager being the MVP because I feel like he really did ball out and did his thing and I just think if Adolis Garcia didn’t get hurt he would have won it but I still love that Corey won it,” Bueno said.
