The Greendale boys basketball season is just around the corner and the players have been preparing for the 2023 – 2024 season for months.
They have been preparing by doing skill workouts every week practicing their dribbling and shooting. Some of them also have been preparing by playing on AAU teams this summer, which is leading them to staying fresh and even possibly getting better.
“I have been practicing, going to the gym, and working on my jump shot,” junior Luke Mattes said.
The team has some new players coming in that are freshmen and sophomores and they look forward to keeping the momentum going by adding new players to the roster.
“I’m hoping we do well because we are bringing in some more players and having more people on our team with more varsity experience,” junior Landon Lopez said.
The players are really excited for this season and think it is going to go really well because they are more experienced. Last year they finished 15-11 for the overall season record and finished fourth in the Woodland Conference.
They feel that they can do better this year. One of the players who looks to contribute is junior Devin Isaj. He hopes to score his 1,000th point this season.
“It feels good because it’s something that shows all the hard work I’ve put in through the years,” Isaj said.
To begin the season the team will play a scrimmage on Nov. 18 vs multiple teams at Catholic Memorial High School. The first game is against Milwaukee Pulaski on Nov. 25 at 10 at Waukesha North High School. They are looking forward to getting a great start off in the 2023-2024 season.
