Late last month, GHS Athletic Director Jerad Galante started a student T-shirt giveaway on Instagram. Students had to take a picture with their favorite staff member and submit it to the Greendale High School instagram account. In return, students got a T-shirt and got their picture posted to the Greendale Athletics’ Instagram story for 24 hours.
Galante thinks that the giveaway went really well. “Overall this event was far more meaningful and had a much larger impact on our community than previous T-shirt giveaways,” he said. “Many teachers and staff were very moved by the kind things that were said about them and were honored to be chosen and appreciated. It was a great way to build morale within the school as well as create a strong staff/student bond. More than 50 Kids participated in this event, which left us with only a handful of shirts remaining.”
One of the students that participated in this giveaway was sophomore Brandon Harper Jr.. He thinks that the giveaway was a great idea. ”It was a great opportunity to get a free T-shirt, and it was good for teacher appreciation week because it showed appreciation for my teacher. I also liked being posted to the Greendale Athletics’ Instagram page,” he said.
The T-shirt giveaways make a big impact and bring everybody together. “There will be plans to do additional giveaways later in the school year. Details will be released on the @greendale_athletics Instagram account as those events get closer. Stay Tuned…” Galante said.
