The GHS football season has officially wrapped up and athletes are slowly finding themselves changing lifestyles and some are onto new things.
Senior offensive guard Tanner Johnson is going to continue his journey by playing football in college. “I know that I get to play the sport I love again at the next level, but it sucks knowing I’ll never get to play another game with the people I grew up with,” Johnson said.
Many senior athletes are still currently thinking about what it would have taken to win State; however all of the seniors are faced with memories throughout their time playing football.
“I remember getting a pancake and having Jackson Braley bark at him against Stoughton,” said Johnson. “However, currently I’ll be working on talking to coaches and making the right decisions.”
Although the football lifestyle is over for seniors, underclassmen are looking to come back next season even better. Underclassmen must participate in a workout camp called 212 in order to stay in shape year round and sustain muscle mass.
Junior Luke Missall is looking forward to further years of football. “I started hitting the gym a lot and I picked up a weightlifting class to stay in shape for next season,” Missall said.
Although it’s a sad way to end the season for many seniors, opportunities for incoming seniors next year open up but with the same goal to win state in mind.
Senior Aidan Golumski will be wrestling, “I’m very sad my season is over and I find myself thinking about the memories I have. But I’m excited for wrestling because it’s fun to travel to the Dells for a sport and all my friends are on the team, ” Golumski said.
With 16 seniors graduating, their spots will be filled with new players. However their legacy and memories will always remain with the team as their year for playing football.
“I’ll miss going to practice every day and owning Greasefield (Greenfield) . Three things are guaranteed in life, Death, Taxes, and Dale owns the Grease, Grease in 4” Golumski said.
