On Nov. 14 on the Pat McAfee Show Jets QB Aaron Rodgers said he should be back full-time with the team by Thanksgiving after tearing his Achilles in September.
Rodgers joined the Jets during the offseason as they needed a quarterback, and in the first game against the Bills, on the fourth snap, Rodgers tore his achilles and had to undergo surgery to recover. “I felt really bad because he’s my favorite player and I had him in Fantasy,” senior Alin Ademi said.
After 10 weeks Rodgers made it official, saying he could return to play during Christmas time. Rodgers has been walking and has been seen throwing the ball for the past few weeks. With an achilles tear, most players would be out for the season, but Rodgers, who is 39 years old, is recovering from this as if it was a simple injury.
The shortest comeback after an achilles tear in football was from Vikings running back Cam Akers, who came back after a year. “I think it’s interesting that he’s back so fast after tearing his achilles. I think he probably could, but if he’s going to play it might start hurting again, and might he have to play through it if he wants to keep playing,” freshman Gabe Anderson said.
The latest news on Fox Sports said that the most likely date for a potential return would be Week 16 against the Washington Commanders. Right now the Jets are 4-7 and need a miracle to get into the playoffs. So far, most AFC playoff teams are over .500, and there are two teams over .500 in the no-playoff zone with one team who’s exactly .500.
The Jets’ percentage to make the playoffs right now is a minimum of one percent. Their playoff hopes are going to be tough, but their main target right now is trying to get Rodgers on the field as quickly as possible. “I think he can come back this early because he has good trainers,” freshman Noah Jacobson said.
The Jets right now are trying to find a quarterback who can help their team before Rodgers gets back to the NFL because they benched second-string QB Zach Wilson so the third-string QB, Tim Boyle, has been playing QB, but hasn’t been doing well. Overall, there are rumors of Rodgers returning, but it will mostly depend on his health and the Jets’ playoff chances.
