A couple weeks ago there was a Kindness Spirit Week sponsored by Buddy Club. It consisted of different type of theme days such as pajama day, neon day, and animal day.
Buddy club advisor Karla Gieger explains why they sponsored this week “Monday, 11/13/23 was World Kindness Day. This aligns with our club mission and we simply wanted to encourage kindness throughout our school community,” she said.
Geiger thought the week went well. “It felt like a positive impact. Staff throughout the building were happy to participate. Many students participated and commented on our spirit wear. Always proud to be part of our school community and support each other,” she said.
Most students around the school liked the idea of the spirit week and hope that the spirit days continue. Sophomore Ahmad Qasem had some words about the spirit days.
“I really think that spirit weeks helps the school build a bond. It was also cool seeing my friends dressed up in different attire. I cannot wait for the next spirit week and I am looking forward to dressing up for it,” Qasem said.
Sophomore Charlie Sheridan said, “The spirit week was a great success. I really felt a connecting with my peers and the themes were great.”
The Buddy Club has also been busy . “We kicked off the week as a club by baking over 50 dozen cookies that will be shipped to active members of the military. We were proud to do this together!!” Geiger said. “We typically run a few spirit weeks per school year and collaborate with Student Council and/or Sources of Strength to get even more students and staff involved and participating. We will certainly continue to work together on these moving forward.”
