Time is flying through the fingertips of Greendale High School students, and New Year’s Eve is almost here. Students and teachers are preparing for what they are doing the night before 2024.
Senior AJ Randolph is looking forward to his yearly tradition of going to a party, as well as a resolution to change in 2024. “I want to be a better person and stay more true to myself,” Randolph said.
With plenty of people wanting to follow through with their resolutions, eighty-eight percent of people are estimated to fail, according to ABC News. This statistic makes people wonder how important it is to stick to a resolution. “If you don’t stay true to your resolution, what’s the point of it then? So I say yes, it is important,” Randolph said.
Not only are students at GHS planning on celebrating but teachers as well. Math teacher Amanda Hauser has plans for the night of New Years Eve. “Usually on New Year’s I go out to dinner and hang out with one of my friends–nothing exciting! We are both usually home and in bed before midnight. I am not much of a night owl anymore,” she said.
Hauser is also looking forward to her New Year’s resolution. “My New Year’s resolution is to continue to focus on both my mental and physical health. I plan to continue making this a priority so that I can continue to maintain balance in my life. As Ms. Slak would say, “you have to be well to do well”,” Hauser said. “I think as long as you are staying true to yourself, that is the important thing. I think sometimes with life getting in the way, it is hard for people to always honor their resolutions, so being true to yourself and what is important to you is the most important thing!”
