For the first time, The Rock sports complex hosted the “Enchant Christmas” light maze, the world’s largest Christmas light maze, which is an immersive experience weaving magic into every corner, perfect for joyful seasonal celebrations.
Enchant is an opportunity to spend time with friends and family through a maze of Christmas lights and decorations. This experience not only includes ice skating, but also visiting Santa, writing letters to him, and days with special themes. This year alone, they had over 1.3 million visitors, and 230,000 ice skaters.
“I did go. I really liked it and I would go again just to see the changes,” junior Noeli Shutten said.
However, one of the biggest concerns that people had about the experience was the pricing. Adults ages 18-64 were $34, while juniors 3-17 were $25. Although Enchant does include multiple different features, some people did not like paying so much. They felt like it wasn’t that much more special than skating at the Pettit or driving through Candy Cane Lane to view Christmas lights.
Junior Sydney Stardy visited Enchant with her parents over break after hearing about it from her friends. “My parents paid about $80 to $90,” Stardy said. “I don’t think the tickets needed to be that much. It was fun, but I could have gone somewhere cheaper.”
Throughout the month of December there were multiple themes such as ugly sweater night, military night, ladies night, and Paws n’ Claus night. Paws n’ Claus was a night for individuals and families to bring their dogs along the park to view the Christmas lights with them, getting the Christmas experience instead of leaving them at home.
Junior MacKenzie McDonnell worked at the event. “I loved my managers and the people I worked with and it made it so much fun. I would work there again if I knew that I would be working with the same people,” she said. “The prices were only worth it if you brought kids because there was more to do for kids than adults.”
Enchant may not be for everyone, but it is a fun, beautiful, and eventful way to spend time with friends and family that many are hoping will return next year.
