The Greendale Panthers boys basketball team have recently had some ups and downs in their performances so far this season. The Panthers have been struggling to get a conference win, and as of right now they are 0-5 in conference and 5-1 in non conference. The players know that there are things they can work on which will help them be successful.
“We do well at not giving up in games, but we need to work on our offense and defense a lot more. Teams start to pressure us and we get nervous,” junior Luke Mattes said.
The Panthers’ most recent game was last Thursday againsts Milwaukee Lutheran and they played well but lost 86-81. Junior Devin Isaj finished the game with 44 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 steals. Sophomore Zavier Castillo finished with 12 points and 4 rebounds. Sophomore Brandon Harper Jr finished with 8 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists. And junior Landon Lopez finished with 7 points and 8 rebounds.
“In Thursday’s game we needed to have a really good defense, run a very good offense, play hard, don’t give up. We did that but unfortunately we still lost,” senior Collin Kramp said.
The Panthers have had some challenging opponents such as Pewaukee and Wisconsin Lutheran. Some games have been frustrating and some have been disappointing. They are looking for revenge from a lot of teams that they lost to in their conference earlier this season, starting Jan. 19 vs New Berlin Eisenhower. The players know they can beat some of the teams they lost to earlier this season.
“Going up against Brookfield East was the most frustrating game because of us being up 5 at half time and then losing by 20 in the ending,” junior Colin Granberg said.
