MLB Spring Training started Feb. 22, where fans see stars and teams play to prepare for the MLB season, and they also get to see young players develop. Although the season is close, many questions remain about who will make the opening-day rosters.
Many signings during the offseason have been record-breaking, with two-way player Shohei Ohtani signing a $750 million contract with the Dodgers along with pitcher Yoshinobu. This tops $1 billion for two players.
Fans also saw Juan Soto go to the Yankees and Brewers pitcher Corbin Burnes traded to the Orioles. “I feel upset that we lost Corbin Burnes because our pitching was one of the best in the league with him, Woodruff, and Williams, and I hope nothing but the best for him at the Orioles,” senior Alin Ademi said.
The Brewer’s Spring Training has been going well, and they have a current record of 13-13. The team overall has been missing key players from last year like 1B Rowdy Tellez and injured P, Devin Williams, who’s out for three months.
There have been new players like first basemen Rhys Hoskins, outfielder, Jackson Chourio, and the return of outfielder, Garrett Mitchell. “I think the Brewers could make the playoffs if their team is healthy because some of their players are decent and their rookies have potential to be good,” sophomore Zach McNulty said.
As the season is close there will be stars that will try and go for MVP. The last MVPs for the AL and NL were Yankees RF, Aaron Judge who won the AL MVP, and Braves CF, Ronald Acuña Jr who won the NL MVP.
“I believe Ronald Acuña Jr could potentially win this year’s NL MVP as he’s been healthy for the past season,” freshman Ian Hanson said. “I also have Juan Soto winning this year’s AL MVP as he will have a team around him and will have a breakout season.”
This year will certainly be interesting for fans as we will see breakout players, super teams, and how the Brewers will be this season.
