On Apr. 25, the NFL Draft began in Detroit where fans saw the Packers draft players they needed including o-line, linebacker, safety, running back, and cornerback. Overall, The Packers drafting was good, as many draft experts gave the Packers an A- or A for their draft.
The Packers draft class included 11 players and they chose an o-line in the first round from Arizona named Jordan Morgan. Many believe Morgan was one of the best tackles in the draft.
In the second round, the Packers were very successful in drafting the best linebacker, Edgerrin Cooper from Texas A&M. The Packers also got a top Safety in the second round named Javon Bullard who played for one of the best college teams, Georgia. They got this pick based on how they played during last season.
“I believe the first three players the Packers drafted were a success because they needed to focus on those positions to improve for next season,” freshman Max Derus said.
The Packers also drafted Penn State cornerback Kalen King who is considered a steal in the draft. In 2022, King was one of the best cornerbacks in college football as he recorded 3 interceptions and 30 tackles. In 2023, Kalen King’s season wasn’t well as he only recorded 29 tackles.
“I believe if we could get Kalen King back in his 2022 form, we could be a scary team next year,” sophomore Jack Grunske said.
Although the Packers draft was decent, other teams in the draft made some good and surprising picks. One surprising pick in the draft was the Falcons taking quarterback Michael Penix Jr with the 8th pick.
In the first round of the draft, there were 6 quarterbacks taken including Caleb Williams, J.J Mccarthy, Jayden Daniels, Bo Nix, Michael Penix Jr, and Drake Maye.
“I believe the Bears and Eagles had the best draft class, as they picked top players in the draft like the Eagles taking Cooper Dejean and Quinyon Mitchell or Bears taking Caleb Williams and Rome Odunze,” freshman Korben Pfeifer said
After the draft, many fans are excited about their new team and their new season starting soon. They are ready for this season because it will be filled with many talented players.
