Prom was a success for GHS students this year. Despite the pouring rain the majority of the day, they were able to make the best of it!
The night started at the Grand March at the high school. Couples were presented and the court was announced. Prom court is an exciting tradition that many students enjoy at Greendale.
Prom King Greysen Doersching and Prom Queen Aubrey Jorgenson share their experience.
“I was very surprised and honored when I found out I was on court,” said Doershing, “When I found out I won I was kind of shocked and honestly I was just focused on putting the crown on Aubrey’s head. But after that I was super happy and glad my peers thought I was deserving of the title.”
“I was really glad to make it on court and I was really surprised when I won. Being up there when they were handing out the bags was kinda nerve-racking, but it was a super cool experience. I felt super happy that people voted for me and I’m so grateful that I got to be prom queen,” Jorgenson said.
After that the students traveled to the Harley Museum for dinner and the dance.
“My favorite part of prom was the photo booth. I thought it was a super fun and unique touch. I also loved the DJ and thought he played good songs,” said junior Sami Boardman. “I didn’t have a date, but I liked going with my friends, I feel like it was definitely more enjoyable and stress free. I really liked the venue.
The only thing I didn’t like was the food, only because we were one of the last tables to get
in line so it was kind of cold by then.”
The food options at Prom were sliders, pasta, salad and mac’ n cheese.
“I thought the energy at prom was super fun and it looked like everyone was having a great time!” said junior Audrey Gentry. “My favorite part was seeing everyones dresses, there were a lot of super pretty ones. I didn’t have a date but I definitely think it’s more fun to go with a group of friends. I wish it didn’t rain though, my dress got a little wet towards the end of the photos, but overall it was a great experience.”
Many students in the Student Council worked to make prom as special as it was. Both upper and underclassmen put in lots of time and effort with planning and decorating.
“I went down to the venue the day of prom to set up, and I also helped to set up for the Grand March.” said freshman
Dana Flink. “I thought it was super cool to be involved in prom even though I wasn’t going. I can’t wait to help plan my prom Junior year!”
“It was really fun to be so involved in planning prom,” said junior Nick Galusha. “I’ve been in student council since freshman year and watched other juniors plan theirs, so I was excited that it was finally our turn. We’ve been working on this since last summer and I think it was successful and I am very satisfied with the outcome. I’m ready to start the Homecoming planning!”
Overall, students who went to prom had a great time and many people are looking forward to next year’s prom.
