It’s now a month into the Green Bay Packers season, the team has had some pleasant surprises, as well as some major setbacks. The injury to current QB Jordan Love brought some controversy to the team’s future, but the team has a record of 2-2 and looks to improve that with their game this Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams.
With high hopes going into the season, the Packers took on the Philadelphia Eagles in Brazil week 1. In a hard fought game the Packers fell short in the final seconds, but the main question after the game was if Jordan Love was okay. With the MRI reporting a sprained MCL, the Packers needed to prepare for their next game with backup Malik Willis.
“He was on my fantasy team so I freaked out. I also started to lose hope in the team’s success. But then I looked at our schedule and saw we played 2 mediocre teams.” junior Luke Mattes said
The MRI came back and Love was expected to miss almost a month. Despite the news, the Packers won 2 straight games against Indianapolis and Tennessee with the help of the new fan favorite Quarterback Malik Willis, and Josh Jacobs
“I like that Malik Willis can run really well, it opens up the offense.” junior Jack Grunske Said.
With a big game on their hands week 4 against the undefeated division rival Minnesota Vikings, the Packers decided to have Love start despite the health of his knee still questionable. Despite a second half rally the Packers came up just short in a 29-31 loss. Despite the loss, there were some bright spots around the roster. WR Dontayvion Wicks scored two of Jordan Love’s three touchdowns in the second half to lead the “almost comeback.”
“I like Dontayvion Wicks, I don’t really know why, he is really tuff.” junior Jack Grunske said.
With a quarterback room with a lot of questions, and an Injury to WR1 Christian Watson, the Packers plan on utilizing newly acquired Josh Jacobs for a run heavy approach in their next game against the Los Angeles Rams this Sunday
“I think Jacobs is up for the workload challenge but still needs to prove himself. Jacobs passes the eye test, but overall like Aaron Jones better” junior Charlie Sheridan said.
