The Wisconsin Badgers are currently off to a solid start to their season with a record of 5-2 with hopes of making it to the newly transformed 12-team college football playoff bracket this December.
After starting undefeated in the first two weeks Wisconsin faced a big opponent week 3 with their matchup against current #15 Alabama. After starting QB Tyler Van Dyke went down with an injury early in the game, the Badgers never gained control and lost 42-10.
“Ryan Williams is him and Jalen Milroe is very underrated,” junior Logan Nowak said.
After another loss to a high ranked USC team, star running back Chez Mellusi decided to step away from the team to focus on his physical health.
“I think he should do what’s best for him. And the Badgers have good running back depth so I think we will be fine without him,” sophomore Jack Hajewski said.
After a rough two weeks for the team, they bounced back well with wins against three conference teams. First with a decisive 52-6 win against Purdue, next was another big win against Rutgers from the help of running back Tawee Walker who finished with 198 rushing yards and three touchdowns, and most recently Northwestern.
After losing to the Wildcats last year 24-10, Wisconsin got their revenge with a dominant 23-3 win this year.
“Tawee played outstanding and really attacked the defense with power. He asserted dominance to his opponents and showed the college football world who he is,” junior Tyler Roche said.
Currently with a record of 5-2 it is important that the Badge continue to win against they’re new and improved conference opponents.
“It comes down to how prepared they are for big opponents like Penn State and Oregon. Also being healthy. Our starters need to be healthy or are going to have a low chance of winning. But if the team has a good week of preparation, they can come out on top,” junior Brayden Wilde said.
