Many different opinions have been made about the newest horror movie Long Legs, directed by Oz Perkins and distributed by Neon. It was released in theaters this summer, and I thought this movie had some of the best cinematic effects I have ever seen.
This film is a fictional story starring Nicolas Cage, Maika Monroe, and Alicia Witt about a young FBI agent that is assigned to an unsolved mystery murder case. It takes an unexpected turn to reveal that she has a personal connection to this killer, and she later finds out more about how her past has affected her in the present.
I personally think that this movie had amazing screen effects, and there was great casting. Longs Legs was played by Cage, and he had a great performance showing the weirdness of the old man. As a woman investigator, Monroe did an amazing job too, as she was very intelligent and thought outside the box.
Cage has been in many horror movies, and I think this portrayal of Long Legs was the greatest, and really showed that even though he wasn’t the protagonist in this movie, he still did a great job acting like a mentally disabled older man whose life revolves around Satan.
I love how this movie really created a suspense of every little thing you see on the screen because you never would have known what was going to happen.
The way that this movie was filmed was my favorite part though. The eerie, old film filter just made the suspense even better. As I was watching the movie, it really felt like I was also a character in the movie.
If I have one complaint it would be that I really wish it was more scary because the plot is too good for it to not have any real jump scares.
