Waking up in the morning can be a struggle for everyone, but drinking enough water and sleeping reasonably can lead to a productive morning.
Students have different ways of starting their morning to enjoy the day.
“I wake up at 6:35 am and the first thing I do is go to the bathroom to brush my teeth and hair. After that, I go to my room and change into my outfit,” junior Kyla Bassler said. “I either eat a piece of sourdough toast or a bagel, make my lunch, and leave at 7:05.”
“Since I have a first-hour release, I wake up at 7:30 and drink water, then go to the bathroom. I get in the shower, get dressed, eat breakfast, brush my teeth, do my hair, and then go to school,” senior Thomas Gozdowiak said.
While these students don’t wake up super early, some students do.
“I wake up at 5 am because I enjoy taking my time in the morning. I do my skincare and makeup, do my hair, pick out an outfit and jewelry, eat breakfast, and pack a lunch before I leave,” sophomore Sarah Larsen said.
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Some choose what they eat based on how much time they have and others based on how it makes them feel.
“I eat fruit in the morning because it’s cold and I feel like it wakes me up. It also tastes really good,” sophomore Olivia Trentadue said.
“I have Cheerios every morning because I’m too lazy to make anything else and I only have 10 minutes to eat,” freshman Tristan Springstead said.
Teachers usually like to get to school earlier to catch up on grading and prepare for the coming day.
“I wake up at about 6 am and the first thing I do is drink water,” math/physics teacher Darek Nelson said. “I get to school at about 7 am, which gives me time to prepare for the day and greet my students when they walk in for the first hour.”
“My alarm goes off at 5:30 am and the first thing I do is turn off my alarm. Then, I get out of bed and use the bathroom,” American Sign Language teacher Jennifer McCauley said. “On Tuesdays and Thursdays, I get to school at 7:05 because I drop my dog off at a Doggy Daycare and on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays I try to get her by 6:50 because I like to get to school early so I can get organized for my day.”
