The 2024 College football season has had many upsets and heated rivalry games. The season is going into week 11 and there’s four teams that remain undefeated along with teams that were ranked in the top 25 falling in the rankings.
As the season moves on fans continue to see teams rise and teams fall. Florida State has had a very rough season sitting with a current record of 1-9. Alabama has also had some shocking losses to Vanderbilt and Tennessee that can strike fear into them and their playoff hopes. Teams that are still shocking the college football world like Indianna who is 10-0 and Army who is 9-0 stay undefeated currently shocking everyone.
“Florida State is the biggest bust for sure and no explanation is needed,” senior Sawyer Hakow said.
College football has a lot to do with culture and traditions that define a school. Schools have traditions like Penn State white out games, Wisconsin’s beginning of fourth quarter jump around, Virginia tech’s enter sandman, and many more. Rivalry games like the Ohio State and Michigan along with the red river rivalry game, Texas and Oklahoma are what college football fans love to see. When rivals go head to head there’s no atmosphere like these games.
“The big game (Ohio State vs Michigan) is definitely one of my favorite games to watch because the amount of beef these schools have for each other is crazy,” sophomore Wesley Van Lith said.
Heisman talk is a big controversy right now with two way ties at first between Travis Hunter from Colorado and Cam Ward from Miami. Hunter is a two way player for Buffaloes, He plays Cornerback and wide receiver and Cam Ward plays quarterback for Miami Hurricanes. A name that is not being talked about enough is Ashton Jeanty who plays running back for the Boise State Broncos. So far this season he has 224 carries for 1,734 yards and 23 touchdowns in just 8 games.
“Ashton Jeanty should win the Heisman because he’s a one-man wrecking crew. He’s just such an athletic dude.” Hakow said.
“I think Ashton Jenty should win the Heisman because he’s got the best stats since Barry Sanders back in 1988,” sophomore Brady Lindholm-Krisman said.
The season is winding down as we head into week 11 and teams continue to fight for the playoffs where 12 teams make it now. With two weeks left before bowl games and playoffs we will continue to see college football madness.
