The marching band traveled to Indianapolis, Indiana on Nov 14 to the 16, to compete in the Bands of America marching championships
Greendale placed 85th, and even though that was not the score they were hoping for, the students had fun.
“Everyone put their best foot forward and gave it their all. The most important part is that we had fun and we sure did put on a show!” junior drum major Valerie Brockmann said.
The seniors were excited to perform their last BOA.
“My favorite part about the entire weeknd was when we practiced right when we got there, and everyone was focused and excited for the next morning,” senior Brady Mccravenns said. “I will always remember the experiences and trips I’ve gotten to go on with my friends, and being able to compete while everyone works towards one common goal,”
Band Of America is an experience that students will remember forever.
“One thing I remember is the feeling when you first walk onto the field when you’re about to perform,” sophomore Cara Cornell said.
Many of the students were experiencing and competing for the very first time in Indianapolis.
“The performance was great. For half the band, it was their first time performing at Lucas Oil Stadium, and they did very well performing alongside the best groups in the nation,” band director Tom Reifenberg said.
As Greendale band comes to an end this season they travel to Chicago, Illinois for one last performance in the Chicago Magnificent mile lights festival and parade on Nov, 23. After Greendale’s final march they plan to celebrate with a banquet in January.
They are always looking for ways to improve their performances and they are ready for the 2025 Greendale band season.
“Our goal year after year is to continuously improve. We have started designing the show, which will be performed all fall and even in Pasadena next December, a few days before the Rose Parade. We are already excited for the 2025 season!” Reifenberg said.
