The holiday season is upon us, and with it comes the timeless tradition of holiday music. From classic Christmas carols to modern hits, everyone has a favorite song that brings back memories and fills their hearts with joy.
For many Michael Bublé is a top favorite.
“It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas by Michael Bublé is probably one of my all time favorite Christmas songs. He has a great voice and it reminds me of a white Christmas or when you’re hanging out with your family the night before Christmas Eve,” senior Eva Marquez said.
Sophomore Anthony Bird loves this song too, “It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas is one of my favorite holiday songs because it’s very nostalgic to me. When I would go to my grandma’s and peel potatoes on Christmas eve she would always have it playing in the background,” He said.
Others love a good, classic Christmas song.
“I love the song Last Christmas by Wham. I feel like it’s just such a classic christmas song and it has a good beat. It also reminds me of my childhood a lot because it was always on the radio,” junior Lily Frick-Machut said.
“My favorite holiday song is the one by Mariah Carey called All I Want for Christmas Is You. Mariah Carey’s voice is so beautiful and she builds it up and then explodes into the song. How could you not love it and smile while listening,” teacher Sarah Walczak said.
But she also has some negative thoughts on some songs.
“One song I cannot stand though is Wonderful Christmastime by Paul McCartney. It used to be so overplayed, and is so easy to get stuck in your head it’s just annoying,” she said.
A good upbeat song is always a fan favorite. “My favorite is Snowman by Sia. It reminds me so much of Christmas and snow, which I absolutely love,” junior Baneen Al Sudani said.
Holiday songs have a unique way of bringing back sentimental memories and spreading joy. From a classic carol, to a pop hit these songs are such an important part of the holiday season magic.
