Next month Greendale Cheer and Poms will travel to Orlando Florida, the cheer team will compete at NHSCC and the Poms will perform in the Badgerette All-Star Parade. Though they are not going to be in Orlando at the same time, each of these teams have been putting in the effort all year.
Cheer has been putting together two different routines, one to compete with the band and the other to compete by themselves. Many of these girls cannot wait to take the stage.
“ I am extremely excited to be going back to Orlando with my team and members of the pep band. I feel that our captains did an amazing job helping our team prepare the best we can,” sophomore Audrey Lukecart said.
This year’s team has 23 girls on it and for four of them it will be their first time on a national stage.
“I feel ready to perform and am excited to go to Orlando. I am nervous about stunting but I am looking forward to being with my team and performing,” freshman Aiyanna Wallace said.
Last year the cheer and pep band had a very successful season earning the title National Champions in the Game Day Live division.
“Hearing them announce second place and knowing we won, just that feeling is indescribable. Us all just freaking out, crying, and hugging each other was so fun and I will never forget it,” senior captain Olivia Vitrano said.
Poms were invited to perform with thousands of other girls in the Badgerette All-Star parade. Only one of the girls on the poms team will be a fourth year.
“I am super sad to be performing for the last time especially because I’ve had the opportunity to perform all four years. I am always so grateful to be able to participate in the opportunities Greendale and Badgerette offers us,” senior captain Gabi Trauberman said.
During this season poms has put together many different routines to perform at the football and basketball games. This has given them the opportunity to practice in front of people before Orlando in February.
“We have not started the parade practice yet, but I believe the team will be able to catch on very quickly,” junior captain Casey Lamb stated.
Performing in front of lots of people can be scary. But, the cheer and pom captains and mentors have offered the most help they can this year.
“I feel like my captains prepared me and my team well enough to perform. They help us to improve and get better and are always willing to help me”, sophomore poms member Eliahna Tellez said.
