Students have taken various classes this semester and have taken the time to realize which class is their favorite. Some student’s favorite courses are based on the activities, the teacher, or how they see the subject helping them in the future.
“My favorite class so far has been speech because it’s super engaging,” junior Zayd Cartagena said. “I could see this class helping me in my future career because I plan to pursue law which requires lots of public speaking and engaging audiences.”
“My favorite class is Human Body Systems because we get to do a lot of labs. I enjoy how much new information we get and how we mix notes and physical work,” sophomore Maddie Ploszay said. “It will help in my future because I want to do something in the medical field.”
Students noticed a difference in their learning and engagement with classes they enjoyed based on the teacher.
“I think Mrs. Welsch’s teaching skills are great,” junior Sophia Carini said. “She is very interactive and she explains things well which helps me stay engaged.”
“My favorite class is officiating because Mr. Fiet makes it fun and he taught us how to ref,” sophomore Brady Lindholm-Krisman said.
Upperclassmen advice lowerclassmen about taking classes throughout high school.
“My favorite class is American Sign Language because it’s a fun language to learn,” senior Khloe Pederson said. “My advice to people coming into high school is to take classes you’ll have fun with, which could help you in the future.”
Even teachers who teach multiple subjects have thoughts on classes they most enjoy.
“Interpersonal communication is a lot of fun for both students and me because the content is relatable and useful for life, such as how to talk to people and discuss how to be a good communicator in relationships,” English teacher Kate Wagner said. “Film as Lit is also fun since I pick half the movies, but the class chooses the other half, so it always gives me a challenge and something new.”
“Speech class has the best environment because we build a community in there and help each other face fears,” theater teacher Jeff Schaetzke said. “I like my acting class because it’s usually the introduction to see if kids want to pursue theater.”
Students and teachers have had a lot of fun this semester with their favorite classes. Whether because of the teacher’s skills and activities or a learning experience you plan to bring into adulthood, having a class to look forward to motivates and encourages students to grow and come to school.
