Squid Game season two was released last month, and students are excited to finally talk about the previous season along with the new one.
In the first season a man named Seong Gi-hun is severly in debt. A man comes up to him in a subway station and gives him a business card. This business card is an invitation to an unknown island to play dangerous games in exchange for winning a lot of money.
There are 456 players starting out playing these games; each player here is in severe debt. The prize of winning these games is 456 billion yon, and in these games many players will die and will continue to die after each game until there is one final player left to win the entire game.
In season two player 456 is trying to stop the games. He has a group of people searching subways trying to find the man who gives out the invitations. Eventually player 456 decides he wants to go back in the games, hoping he can find a way to end it.
Some students feel that season two was well worth the wait because they really enjoyed it.
”I liked season two better because I really enjoyed all the plot twists that came with it and they changed a lot of things up.” junior Baneen Al Sudani said.
Students think back and compare the two seasons together to decide which one they like the most.
”I really enjoyed the first season and I honestly think it’s better than the second season because nobody knew what to expect since everything was unfamiliar.” sophomore Josie Dembosky said. “There was a lot more suspense in the first season compared to the second where there is just a lot more action instead.”
Some students would also agree that the second season wasn’t as good as the first season due to the lack of suspense.
”I didn’t like how they removed a lot of the mystery in the second season. They made the guards have a back story, but it didn’t really explain much so it felt pointless.” freshman Cole Johnson said “I hope they can tie it together in the final season and spend more time developing the plot and the relationships with characters because they did a good job doing that in the first season.”
The final season of Squid Game will be arriving in 2025 and students have many ideas that will end up happening in the show.
”I think player 456 is going to win the games again. I also think the front man’s brother will end up coming to kill the frontman and then the games will finally stop,” senior Alex Holthaus said. “How I actually want it to end is with player 456 dying and then someone else wins all the money so the games still continue on.”
