As the NFL playoffs have started up for another thrilling month of football, teams are battling for a trophy and also the chance at winning the Super Bowl title. Players and fans are also getting ready to witness unforgettable moments and jaw-dropping performances.
The playoffs kicked off on Jan.11, and teams are battling not only for a spot in the Super Bowl but also for the chance to hold their ground and not lose any games. Fans are excited to see the top players and teams in the US face off against one another.
“I am really excited to watch the 2025 playoffs this season. I’ve been waiting for this moment for a while now and it’s finally here. This season was so fun to watch,” junior Saad Waqas said.
On Saturday, Jan.11, four teams played against one another to advance to the second round of the playoffs. Houston Texans defeated the Los Angeles Chargers 32-1, and the Baltimore Ravens beat the Pittsburgh Steelers 28-14.
“I think the Ravens will make it far in the playoffs, Lamar Jackson shut down the Steelers to win the wild card,” junior Tyler Roche said.
On Sunday, Jan.12, six teams battled to advance to the Divisional round. The Buffalo Bills blew out the Denver Broncos 31-7. and the Washington Commanders beat Tampa Bay Buccaneers 23-20, by a hair with Washington scoring a field goal at the very end that hit the crossbar and went through the upright. The Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Green Bay 22-10.
“It was disappointing, but the Eagles are a really good team. I have no doubt we will be back next season because we have a young team,” junior Jack Grunske said.
On Monday, Jan.13, was the final Divisional round game with the Los Angeles Rams playing the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings got blown out by the Rams 27-9.
“One team I think is flying under the radar is the Rams. They have an elite offense and Matthew Stafford is a good veteran leader for them,” junior Thoman Hanlon says.
Coming up this Saturday and Sunday, Jan 18 and 19, four teams will eventually be battling to advance to the Conference Championship, the final four teams. Saturday the Kansas City Chiefs and the Houston Texans will be playing each other. And the Washington Commanders and the Detroit Lions will go up against each other. Sunday the Los Angeles Rams and the Philadelphia Eagles will be matched up and finally, the Baltimore Ravens and the Buffalo Bills will be facing each other.
“I think the Bills are going to go to the Super Bowl. I think Josh Allen is the best quarterback in the NFL,” junior Charlie Sheridan said.
