As the second semester starts, students find themselves at an important point in their education. The start of a new semester brings new opportunities, challenges, and different experiences. Students look back on their first semester and set new goals and what is crucial for them.
Freshman year is the year where students meet a lot of the teachers and other students and with the second semester starting it is going to be more teachers and students they still haven’t met. It is a scary but also an exciting adjustment.
“It went by very fast and I will miss all my old teachers but I like my new teachers also and all of my new classmates,” freshman Jordan Weber said. “I am mostly in business classes and I’m looking forward to being with my friends and finishing out my first year of high school.”
We are only getting closer to prom and it is the junior’s first prom. Prom is such a thrilling moment and picking out your dress is so exciting. We are also only getting closer to the ACT’s.
“I’m so excited for prom! I haven’t exactly picked my dress yet but I’m thinking gold. I’m not scared to be a senior, I’m mostly excited about it because I hope my schedule is going to be very easy,” junior Gianna Anaya said. “Every night I study everything I have learned and it not only helps me for the ACT but also helps me in class today. My favorite thing about the second semester is that I have all my classes with my friends. I am most excited about painting because it is a break from reality and I just get to sit down and draw.”
For seniors, the second semester means we are graduating soon. Some people are ready to get out of here and start their lives but others might be scared and not ready to leave just yet.
Senior Caden Hernandez said, “I am sad to leave because I’ll miss all my friends but I’m excited for all the new opportunities. I am not the biggest fan of school but my favorite memories were made here. I am happy I am ending this year with easy classes and I’m looking forward to prom the most because it will be my last high school dance ever.”
As students reach their goals this semester and make a bunch of new memories, this semester is a stepping stone to new achievements and students can’t waste it. Second semester is the majority’s favorite time of the school year as it starts to get warm and they reach more opportunities every day.
