Now that the NBA trade line has come to an end now is time to look over all the crazy trades that have happened. There were three big trades that took place before the deadline. The Lakers traded Anthony Davis in return for Luka Doncic. The Spurs acquired De’aaron Fox, and to finish it off the Bucks sent Khris Middleton to the Wizards for Kyle Kuzma.
A Lot of people were shocked that the Mavericks traded Doncic to the Lakers because just this past year he led the Mavericks to the NBA Finals. Also Luka was averaging 28 points per game this year so there didn’t seem to be a decline in his play this year.
¨I was super shocked when the Mavericks traded Luka because he was their franchise player and a symbol for the city of Dallas,¨senior Bradley Moraza said.
Another big trade that occurred was the Kings trading Fox to the Spurs. Fox spent eight years with the Kings and was seen as one of the main pieces of the team. As the team struggled this year much of the blame went to Fox, the Kings started shopping him at the trade deadline because they felt they needed to make a move to enter into playoff contention. The Kings found a deal which involved a three team trade with the bulls and the spurs. In return the Kings got Zach Lavine from the Bulls and sent Fox to the Spurs.
¨I think the Spurs and Bulls won in this trade because the Kings were able to reunite Lavine and Derozan. Lavine and Derozan won a lot in Chicago and have good chemistry. Also I think the Spurs are gonna benefit from this because they needed a guard and they added a borderline all star in De’aaron Fox,”senior Luke Mattes said.
A trade that broke the hearts of many Bucks fans was trading Middeleton for Kuzma. Middelton has spent 12 years with the team and was an All Star and NBA champion. Many people were sad about this trade because Middleton has been with Milwaukee for his whole career and has meant so much to the city. But the Bucks did acquire some younger talent in the trade as kuzma should be able to help the Bucks space the floor and knock down some shots for Milwaukee.
¨I remember watching Khris Middelton as a little kid at the Bucks games. Him and Giannis have always been my favorite players so I’m pretty sad to see him go. I don’t think Kuzma is that good but hopefully he can help Giannis and Dame get to the finals,¨senior Josiah Ornelas said.
