The Milwaukee Speed Academy is an AAU club track team that runners are committed to, and have gotten much faster throughout the season. MKE Speed creates a bond throughout the whole program, and many people enjoy it.
“Our main goal and objective is to set up our athletes to perform well for their high school season. In Wisconsin, you never know how the weather will be in the spring, and by running indoors with MKE Speed you are receiving the necessary training,” coach Kevin Martins said. “If you wait to start until the high school season starts, you are most likely running indoor hallways, gymnasium floors, or extremely cold conditions outside. If you train with us, you are ready to roll on day 1.”
Milwaukee Speed teaches athletes how to run and gets them faster. It also teaches discipline.
“Our athletes have developed technique, form, work ethic, and speed since the beginning of the season,” coach Jeff Gleasing said. “We aim to maximize each athlete’s skills and potential. We hope that the relationships and skills that they develop carry over to their high school sports!”
Junior Sean Libal and junior Jonathon Lopez are the two athletes who run from GHS.
“I like running Milwaukee Speed. It makes me faster, and I enjoy running track. It is something to do during the high school track offseason, and I am very grateful to run for MKE Speed,” Libel said.
“Last year during the school track season I ran a 7.30 in the 60-meter dash. In one of my meets this season for Milwaukee Speed, I got my time down to a 7.21, which is a pretty big difference. My indoor 200 meters also got faster, as I finally hit sub 24. I went from a 24.07 to a 23.77,” Lopez said.
MKE Speed winter season is coming to an end soon as high school track is starting, now it will be time to see if all their hard work pays off.
