It creates a comfortable atmosphere where both people can express themselves freely and feel understood with one another. Great conversation helps develop a stronger connection with the other person and allows the date to stay lively and fun.
By talking and listening to one another you can get a long lasting impression of that person, it also shows you care about the other person when you make it clear you are listening and hearing what they are saying.
“Conversation is important on a date because it allows you to get to know the person and it helps you realize if it will last long term or short term,” senior Lara Kapor said.
A tricky and confusing topic about dates though is who should be paying for them, especially the first date. Some people believe that the man should pay for the date, or the bill should be split and paid by both individuals. Everyone has their own view on this, but the majority of individuals believe the man should pay for the date.
“I believe the man should pay for the date because that’s how I was raised and usually the guy asks out the girl so since you asked her out you should be the one paying,” senior Ilija Pupovac said.
A man paying for the date is also a very traditional approach to dating, and for some people it could be their approach due to culture or ethnic backgrounds.
“Yes because he is the one who asked me to go on the date he should be paying. Also I am Serbian so this is the way most Serbian men go about dating and it is just the traditional approach I personally prefer,” senior Magdalena Trisic said.
