The pom team has worked hard this year, whether it was dancing at football or basketball games is competing at local competitions. In February the poms team went to Orlando Florida to perform in the parade with many other schools.
“I enjoyed hearing the crowd cheering for us as we danced through Magic Kingdom because it gave me energy and momentum to keep going,” senior Amy Jozwiak said.
When they were not performing they were enjoying the Florida sun or going to Disney parks.
“I loved going to all the parks with my teammates, standing in line with them, and making memories. It helped the teams bond by getting ready together, eating together, and just waiting in line, playing little games, and asking questions to pass time. I enjoyed going shopping with my teammates and taking pictures,” freshman Claire Hedgedus said.
Disney is such a fun experience an environment to be with your teammates.
“I think this trip helped my team bond more because we were together all the time and got to know each other more,” junior Eliahana Tellez said.
Right after they came back from Orlando they were back to work for their last competition of the season. They performed at Wisconsin Spirit Championships. They won in small varsity pom, kick, and hip hop. Senior Gabi Trabuerman and freshman Julianna Block both performed a solo and took home first place. “Our last competition was really good. We ended up getting first in all of our categories, which is a really big accomplishment, especially because we have such a quick turnaround between Disney World and our latest competition,” Trabuerman said.
As their season comes to an end the four seniors have been soaking in all of the memories. They had their last practice of the season on March 1. “Our last competition went well and we took first in all of our routine categories but was also bittersweet since it was the last time I got to dance with the team,” Jozwiak stated.
