Greendale Girls Soccer season has begun and they currently have a record of 4-2. They’re coming off an 8-7 season last year and they’re looking to have a stronger season this year. Their conference is a very tough conference featuring teams like Pewaukee and New Berlin Eisenhower. This year the team is led by seven seniors. Captains Mila Vorkapich, Callie Morzy, Kallie Lapoint, and Kylee Swenski look to lead them to state this year. The team has improved a lot this off season and a lot of the returning players say their game is a lot better.
One player set to have a big season is Morzy. She is coming off a 2nd team all conference season last year and has her eyes on the first team this season.
¨One of my main goals this season is to get first team all conference. I think my improved ability of power on my shots is gonna help me achieve my goal,¨ Morzy said.
Even though there’s a lot of good about the team there’s still some things they need to still improve on. Their spacing and communication is the next step in helping the girls achieve a conference title.
¨We need to work on spacing and communication on the field. We sometimes get confused and we are not all on the same page,¨ Lapointe said.
On the bright side the girls still have 14 games left to figure things out and the future is looking very promising for them. Some key matchups against Whitnall, Franklin, and Pewaukee have yet to come and will help the girls become a stronger and better team.
¨I’m very excited to play against Pewaukee and Franklin because it’s gonna be tough games and help our team get better,¨ Swenski said.
¨The game against Franklin is going to be very exciting. They are a very skilled and well coached team,¨ Sophomore Georgia Pluer said.
The girls next home game is Monday against Whitnall April twenty eighth. They came off a good win against Tosa West where they won 2-0. Make sure to go and support the girls as they chase a state run!
