As the school season ends all volleyball players get hype for club season because that’s when volleyball gets really competitive for most players. Striving for the best outcome for their club season there is always nerves for what team they will make, as club tryouts are a lot more competitive than high school.
GHS club volleyball players have been enjoying their season so far.
“Some things my team has been doing really well with is communication and trusting each other. We make sure to make a lot of team bonding plans so that we stay close as a team. I also think having Addison Benning as my coach is super helpful because she goes to GHS as well so we have a special bond,” junior Eden Schuk said.
Benning enjoys coaching.
“It brings me so much joy to get to work with girls that are my age and be able to teach them how to win. Especially after being captain for both my club teams but also high school volleyball teams, I know what it’s like to be a leader and what it takes to win,” senior Benning said.
Some students have had some struggles with the season but it doesn’t take away their love for the sport.
“Some things my team has been struggling with is the ability to finish out games and make sure we don’t pull away from a win. Besides that I love my team and think we’re having a pretty good season so far and can’t wait for what’s to come,” sophomore Maddy Ploszay said.
“I think my team has been pretty successful this season but we struggle with making serves consistently. But that is an easy fix so we have been working on it a lot in practice to clean up areas so once that’s fixed I think my team will be even more successful,” junior Isabelle Endter said.
Students who don’t currently play for club volleyball are thinking about joining.
“I’ve always wanted to play for the club but never got around to it,” sophomore Elle Bauer said. “I think I’m going to join next year to get a feel for it.”
“A lot of my friends have done club volleyball for a while now,” Addie Vanroo said. “They have inspired me to consider joining sometime in the future.”
