Greendale High School’s theater department is celebrating a successful year, earning multiple nominations for the 2025 Jerry Awards—Wisconsin’s regional high school musical theater program. Both of the school’s productions, The Addams Family and Six, received high praise from the Jerry Awards judges, who come to performances and decide the nominations.
Among the nominations are six Lead Performance nominations for Six cast members, senior Olivia Vitrano, juniors Lucy Mermal and Annie Brylow, sophomore Fiona Glorioso, and freshman Nora Griffin and Clara Svoboda. The show also earned nominations for Direction, Choreography, Scenic Design, Lighting Design, Costume Design, and Sound Design.
“The nomination means a lot to me because of all the hard work that was put into Six,” Svoboda said. “We girls put our heart and souls into that show, and being nominated for a Jerry really makes us feel like our work was recognized.”
The Addams Family matched Six in receiving nominations for Direction, Choreography, Scenic Design, Lighting Design, Costume Design, and Sound Design, while also gaining nominations for Outstanding Ensemble and Orchestra.
It also has an impressive amount of individual nominations, with Lead Performance going to seniors Dylan Hagedorn, Ethan Reyes, Vitrano, Nathan Prince, juniors Valerie Brockman and Camden Schilling, and sophomores Alexandra Alcorn and Glorioso. Brylow and sophomore Ben Stilling were nominated for Supporting Performance.
“I hope in the future I will continue to be given the opportunity to play such amazing roles in theater,” Glorioso said. “I really love performing and being up on the stage with my friends. I also wish good luck to everyone who has been nominated, and that we all succeed, as our season has been really fun!”
Director Jeff Schaetzke reflects on the impact of these awards.
“I think it’s important to have these awards for high school students at a school like Greendale, where we put ourselves out there with athletics, choirs, marching band, cheer, poms, DECA, academics on a state and national level and it’s good for theater to be in that conversation,” Schaetzke said.
The Jerry Awards ceremony will take place on June 8, where nominees will perform and a panel of judges will determine the winners. Make sure to wish all the nominees the best of luck as they get ready to represent Greendale Theater on a regional stage.
