The NFL draft has ended in Green Bay, and players will start their new careers in the NFL. Teams hope that their rookies will become the face of their franchise for the future.
The Titans used their first overall pick on quarterback Cam Ward, who had a good year at Miami last season. The Titans have had quarterback issues for a couple of years, and they hope Ward lives up to the hype.
“I think Cam Ward will live up to the hype and become one of the best quarterbacks in the future because of his talent,” sophomore Jack Hajewski said.
The Jaguars traded up with the Browns for the second overall pick and selected Heisman winner Travis Hunter. He played wide receiver and defensive back and plans to play both positions in the NFL. The Giants selected edge rusher Abdul Carter third overall and traded up for quarterback Jaxson Dart.
“I think Travis Hunter will be the best player in the draft because he’s very athletic and can play both sides of the field,” sophomore Max Derus said.
Heisman finalist running back Ashton Jeanty was selected sixth overall by the Raiders. They needed a running back badly and managed to get the best one. Jeanty had an incredible senior season with 2,601 rushing yards, 29 touchdowns, and 7 yards per carry.
Quarterback Shedeur Sanders was once projected number one overall, but five quarterbacks were selected before him, and Sanders was eventually selected in the fifth round. Many people believe that Sanders is overrated and that his high ego played a big part in why he fell so far.
“Shedeur’s overconfidence backfired, and now he is under a lot more pressure,” freshman Bennett McNulty said.
For the first time since 2002, the Packers selected a wide receiver in the first round, Texas star Matthew Golden. They have had receiver problems for a while and hope Golden will develop into a good receiver. In the second round, they selected offensive tackle Anthony Bendon, who has a ton of strength. The Packers ranked 23rd in run blocking last season, and Bendon is a very good run blocker.
“I think Matthew Golden will be the best receiver in the draft because he’s very quick and his route running is good,” sophomore Ryan Hajewski said.
Rookies have officially reached their dreams of making it to the NFL and it’s now up to them to impress fans and coaches. Fans can’t wait to see their new draft picks on the field in the upcoming season.
