Juniors took the ACT in March and got their results a few weeks ago. Some students think the test went really well and are happy with their score.
“I think the ACT went really well for me,” junior Josie Marshall said. “I did think that there were moments that were difficult, and it could have been easier, but overall I think it was pretty easy.”
Many students are happy with their scores, but some also were hoping to do better.
“I think I did well on the ACT, but I am retaking the ACT because I want over 30,” junior Eva Sula said.
“I feel like my score could have been better,” junior Ahmad Qusem said. “I feel like it was just so long that I kind of spaced out.”
Now that they have taken it, juniors have advice for the sophomores who will be taking the test next year..
“I would tell the upcoming juniors not to stress too much about the ACT because you can always retake it if you want a better score,” junior Charlie Sheridan said.
“I would just tell the sophomores not to procrastinate at all while studying for the ACT,” junior Ella Padron said. “Sometimes students don’t realize that the ACT kind of comes quickly, so I would just say to study the most you can.”
Principle Steve Lodas is pleased.
“I really thought the effort was there this year. Teachers did a great job with practice and students seemed to really know the “why?” of putting your best academic foot forward on measures like this. I also think the new exam exemption policy played in this,” Lodas said.
ACT data is important for schools.
“For schools, It is a well-researched data indicator on how college and career ready Greendale HS students are. This provides GHS with the baseline for improvement efforts and their success. It also is part of the measure on the School Report Cards,” Lodas said.
