Greendale’s staff and students worked extra hard this year to make everyone’s experience at Prom something they’ll never forget. The Junior Council helped decide the theme, location, food, decorations, and the DJ. The theme was Vegas and it was at the Italian Community Center. With funky decorations like cards and dice, along with great music, everyone seemed to have a great time.
Junior Council member Eva Sula participated in setting up and planning for Prom.
“The decorations turned out well and the planning team did a great job,” she said.
Student Council adviser Jeff Schaetzke was pleased with how the night went.
“Loved the spirit, the attendance, how many people came, and how many people were dancing,” he said. “Everyone looked amazing and like they were having a good time. The venue, food, dancing, DJ, and weather, all awesome. What a great night!”
Students started getting ready hours before the dance.
“I woke up and ate breakfast. After that, I showered and got dressed,” junior David Lunar said. “I picked up my date to go to pictures at Botanical Gardens, and after pictures, we went to the grand march, and from there, we went to the dance.”
“I woke up really early to start my makeup, and my mom did my hair after I finished,” junior Audrey Cullen said. “Then all my friends got dressed together and made TikToks.”
The Grand March kicked off the night and this is where the King and Queen, Sebastion Langenfeld and Casey Lamb, were announced.
“It was a surprise, but a good one,” Langenfeld said. “I’m grateful to have such good friends and community.”
“When the announcement of the Prom court at the Grand March happened, I was shocked and excited at the same time,” Lamb said. “It made my Prom experience a very memorable one.”
The dinner was a buffet of chicken and pasta and some were not pleased with it.
“I didn’t eat the food,” senior Callie Morzy said. “I didn’t like what they offered but the chocolate-covered strawberries were good.”
Others thought it was good.
“I thought the food wasn’t terrible,” junior Logan Nowak said. “I got the pasta and I liked the flavor of it.”
After they ate, the dance started, and there were very positive things said about the music selection and the DJ, Sante.
“The music was pretty lit and so was the DJ,” senior Benjamin Hites said. “The songs he played were good for a high school prom.”
Overall, students thoroughly enjoyed their time at prom.
“I had a good time with my friends and am excited to go next year,” sophomore Lilah Martinez said.
