The football team is getting ready for the 2025 season ahead, as they have been showing up to lifts and competing in passing league. Passing league is a 7 v 7 game for skill players to get better at running routes and catching the football. It is also good for quarterbacks as they get better and making reads and throwing the ball.
Playing 7 v 7s makes the team build a better connection and helps coaches learn who will make a big impact during the real season. The league started this past weekend at Raabe Stadium, Wisconsin Lutheran colleges football stadium.
“Competing in passing league last Sunday was fun. We got off to a slow start, but it is fine since it was our first one. I like just being out there and competing with my guys and getting better,” sophomore Grady Smith said.
Team leader Brandon Harper thought passing league went alright.
“I thought we played decent. Our defense needs a little bit of work, and we need a couple more holes to fill,” he said.
The teams they played against included Bradley Tech and New Berlin Eisenhower. They won the first game against Bradley Tech, but then unfortunately lost against New Berlin Eisenhower.
The next one is June 8, and the Panthers are looking forward to continuing to get better and having fun. They play back at Raabe Stadium and are looking to improve their defense and passing game.
Something else that is going on in the offseason is 212 weight room workouts. Starting in the summer, the Panthers will have to wake up early to get the work put in. Mondays and Thursdays are at 8 am, with Tuesdays and Fridays beginning at 6 am. Conditioning is also on Wednesday, led by Coach Murray, and it also begins at 6 am.
“I really like that the workouts are early in the morning. It builds discipline for the whole team and makes us better.. Also, I can just finish the workout early in the morning and then have the rest of the day to chill,” sophomore Parker Kulas said.
