Greendale High School held their annual homecoming dance for the 2025-26 school year, and it was really fun. The attendance was better than ever this year, with 626 attending this year.
The freshman had mixed opinions about the dance. Some thought that the dance was a really fun time and lived up to their expectations for their first homecoming.
“I had a lot of fun, I danced and sang with my friends the whole time,” freshman Zoe Durocher said. “The dance left me even more excited for next year already.”
The theme for this year’s dance was Mamma Mia, and lots of people loved it.
“I thought the theme was a unique idea,” sophomore Mason Ramirez said. “I like that they played the Mamma Mia song during the dance and during the pep rally.”
Students found out who the Homecoming King and Queen were at the pep rally, but waited for their appearance towards the end of the night as well. The King and Queen were Camden Schilling and Elsi Ayala.
“I really enjoyed being Homecoming Queen. It was nice having everyone cheer for me and support me, like everyone was so happy for me and it was just a very fun thing to be a part of for senior year,” senior Elsi Ayala said.
Students that didn’t like the dance had strong opinions about it.
“I felt like the music was really overplayed from last year,” senior Bennett Peterson said. “It was also really hot and everyone was sweating since they couldn’t open up any windows or anything.
Homecoming would not have been possible without the Student Council’s help. The club started its planning in August and finished the morning of the dance by helping set everything up. They were very happy with the dances outcome.
“I think the attendance was unbelievable, and I really thought the DJ was awesome,” Student Council advisor Jeff Schaetzke said. “I think the dance was overall just really fun and drama free all night which allowed for a good night.”
