When the leaves start changing colors and the air gets a little cooler, students and teachers at Greendale High School have their favorite ways to enjoy fall. The season is all about cozy vibes, fun memories, and things that make autumn feel different from the rest of the year.
English teacher Jenny Hussa said she loves taking walks outside when the weather is nice and crisp. “I love the changes in leaves and all of the colors around, so I’m always admiring people’s gardens as I’m walking and listening to a podcast,” Hussa said. She said the cooler air makes her walks more relaxing, and she enjoys noticing small things like bright flowers in yards or the crunch of leaves under her feet. For Hussa, fall is the perfect season to slow down a bit and enjoy the little things.
Junior soccer player Adam Kias said fall is one of his favorite times because of soccer. “My favorite memory was after we beat Waukesha South, the bus ride home was blasting songs we all knew by heart and singing until our voices gave out,” Kias said. He explained that fall games just feel different. Cooler weather means less sweating and more time to actually play. The bus rides and team energy make the season fun, even after practice is over.
Senior soccer player David Acamovic said he’s all about the food when fall comes around. “Definitely gotta be apple pie,” Acamovic said. He said nothing beats the cozy vibe of fall like a warm slice of pie, especially after a busy day. For him, it’s the little seasonal things like the smells of baked apples and cinnamon that make fall feel special.
Everyone at Greendale High School has something they look forward to in the fall. Some enjoy quiet moments outside, some love the energy of sports, and some just enjoy the flavors of the season. No matter how you like to spend it, fall has a way of making even small things feel fun and memorable.
