Popular artist Drake has announced that he will be releasing his ninth studio album, titled ICEMAN. This comes after his most recent album, $OME $EXY $ONGS 4U, and a year marked by online beef with fellow artist Kendrick Lamar.
Before announcing ICEMAN, Drake dropped $OME $EXY $ONGS 4U in late 2024, a surprise album that leaned into R&B and melodic rap.
“NOKIA, SMALL TOWN FAME, and GIMME A HUG were my favorites, PARTYNEXTDOOR and Drake’s voices complemented each other so well,” freshman Carson Wilkins said.
With songs like SMALL TOWN FAME bringing back that old Drake sound, fans are excited for what ICEMAN might offer.
“I listen to a lot of Drake and from the singles What Did I Miss and Which One, I can tell ICEMAN will be one of the great Drake albums like Her Loss,” junior Hunter Isotalo said.
Drake has already dropped three singles from ICEMAN. The first, What Did I Miss, was released on July 5, 2025, and some say he’s taking shots at people who stopped rolling with him after the Kendrick Lamar feud. He followed that with Which One on July 25, featuring UK rapper Central Cee. Most recently, he dropped Dog House on September 9, a track featuring Yeat and Julia Wolf. So far, fans seem impressed.
“The singles are fire,” freshman Jaden Magner-Monigan said. “The second part of Which One was really good, and What Did I Miss was insane because of the beat and Drake’s voice went so well with it.”
