In recent years, there has been an increase in the amount of TikTok watch time. Here at GHS, several students make and view TikToks pretty frequently, the TikToks that people make at GHS vary from person to person. Many people make TikToks where they dance, and lip sync to their favorite songs; some people even make TikToks where you can’t see their face. Like sports edit clips, and highlight reels.
Lots of students make TikToks at GHS to relate to other students and other users on the app.
“I make lip-syncing TikToks, and my viral TikTok was how my baby sister and I both cry over little things, has over 1000 likes and 10,000 views. I think my goal was to go viral because it was a relatable thing,” junior CeCe Szweda said.
Adam Kias says says that he copies funny TikToks he sees and makes funny TikToks to make people laugh.
“I make meme videos that are very funny and my most viral tiktok had over 2 million views and about 400,000 likes, junior Adam Kias said, I did not really think it would go viral because it was already posted, I saw it and made it beause of a tiktok I already saw people haven’t noticed me because I never posted my face and it was a couple months ago,” This student is unique because he makes dancing TikToks to entertain users on the app. He did not intentionally mean to go viral, but he did.
“I make photo dumps and occasionally make a dance tiktok It was a dancing tikok with over 66.7 thousand views and 8000 likes, he said I did not think it would go viral because it was out of nowhere and I didn’t have alot of followers People from our school say stuff to me about it all the time and say it was funny and they really liked it, senior Zayd Cartegena said.
Overall, at GHS and in general, TikTok has shaped teens by influencing their lifestyles and consumption of their time. It has also affected their social behavior through its algorithm.
